Don’t miss the Annual Rupert Winter Carnival this weekend!

Friday evening 7:00 to 11:00 - cards for adults

Saturday all day

8:00 to 10:00 am - Kathy will do breakfast

Lunch - Snack Bar, hot dogs and grilled cheese etc.

1:00 to 3:00 pm - Sleigh rides

1:00 to 4:00 pm -  Megan will do kids and adult games

2:30 pm - Egg toss

3:00 pm  - Tug of War

3:30 pm -  Nail Hammering and Lumberjack

4:00 pm - pie eating contest

5:00 to 7:00 pm - Supper (regular and veggie chilli etc)

7:00 pm - Fireworks

Wakefield Dragon Festival

“FIRE IN THE BELLY OF THE DRAGON!”

Saturday, January 31st starting at 10 AM with a kids hockey tournament and moving onto games and skidding all ‘round, on-ice waitering competition, tug o’ war (Winter vs Spring), lighting of the ice candles, ice candle parade and big wonkin’ bon fire complete with fire-eaters, fire-jugglers!!

You can help ignite the mountain of ice candles and set the festival on fire!  Start making as many as you can now and bring them down to the Recreation Centre to help make this a bright and awesome festival.

First annual Spaghetti Showdown

First annual Spaghetti Showdown

When: Saturday December 6 from 3:00pm until it’s all over
What: 5 contestants compete for the best spaghetti sauce in Wakefield
Why: To raise Christmas funds for local families in need.
How much: $10 gets you 5 spaghetti samples and a vote for #(1-5)
(it’s wide open voting season after all)
Sorry, no kids! 18+ venue
Vegans, vegetarians… next year maybe (it’s hard to pick out the ground MEAT)

Theatre Wakefield’s MOO

MOO refers not to a four legged milk producing animal but to Theatre Wakefield’s next amazing foray into the entertainment scene in the Village.

MOO is an unconventional comedy of love and obsession perfectly suited to performance by Theatre Wakefield at the Black Sheep Inn. The staged reading takes place at 8 p.m. sharp on Tuesday, November 25th.

Tickets are $10 and on sale now at the Black Sheep.

Bonus: All proceeds go to the Wakefield Community Centre project.

QUILT SHOW

QUILT SHOW:  Next Saturday & Sunday, September 27th. & 28th. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  We are The Covered Bridge Quilters; a local group of friends.
We invite you to a display of some of our quilts at Les Trois Erables B & B, 801 Chemin Riverside, Wakefield.

Free admission :  we will be selling raffle tickets for a Quilt ; proceeds to  Maison Le Ricochet, in Masham.

Full Moon Night Time Tree Climbing Adventure

Wild Adventures Canada will be hosting a full moon night time tree climbing adventure this coming Sunday at the Wakefield Community Center. The big 20′ Tipi will be back up with a warm camp fire, my Alpacas will be out in full force all 4 of them will be happy to hike you into the forest to our climbing site.

Time: the smaller children can climb from 6:p.m. till 8:p.m. Adults can climb from 8:p.m. till midnight.

This will be a fun adventure and also a fund raiser to buy Hay for my Alpacas for the winter, $20.00 donation would be perfect per climber.

I know a lot of people some how get Saturday and Sunday mixed up, so if you would like to try tree climbing or see the Alpacas or sit in the Tipi with a camp fire make sure you show up on Sunday from 6:p.m. till
midnight. If you show up on Saturday just come back the next day and
everything will fine.

Great Gatineau River Festival

Come participate in The Great Gatineau River Festival on September 27,
2008. Discover the secrets of the river and the spectacular fall
colors with your family and friends in non-motorized boats.

Gatineau River Descent in non-motorized boats - 17 km
Departure site: Wakefield Steam train’s turntable - La Pêche

Departure time for the Family Fun-Run: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

At 11:30 am, the Festival’s main site at the Hydro Chelsea dam in
Cantley Qc. (47 route du Vieux Chemin) will open with free activities
for the whole family while waiting for the arrival of all our
adventurers.  You will also be able to benefit from a healthy menu at
our canteen, including an excellent barbecue mechoui * dinner.  Visit

invited artists. At 5:00 pm the winners of the river run races will
receive their prizes on the small stage located outside the big tent.
